What is Product Management? The Complete Guide (2026)

Product management is the practice of strategically driving the development, launch, and continuous improvement of a product. PMs are the "CEO of the product" — they define what to build, why to build it, and measure success.

Quick Definition

Product Managers identify customer problems, define solutions, and work with cross-functional teams to ship products that users love and drive business value. They make the tough calls on what to build, what not to build, and how to measure success.

What Do Product Managers Do?

A Day in the Life of a PM
